A massive influx of tourists was witnessed at Bholaganj White Stone on the sixth day of Eid-ul-Azha holidays, as thousands of visitors from different parts of the country flocked to one of Sylhet’s most popular tourist destinations to enjoy its breathtaking natural beauty.
From early morning, large crowds gathered at the tourist spot and nearby boat terminal. The crystal-clear waters of the Dhalai River, the vast stretches of white stones scattered across the riverbed, and the picturesque view of the Meghalaya hills captivated visitors of all ages. Many tourists traveled by boat to the Zero Point area, where they enjoyed sightseeing, photography, and recreational activities in the river.
Local businessmen and boat operators said the flow of tourists has remained steady since the beginning of the Eid holidays. The increased number of visitors has created a festive atmosphere among boatmen, small traders, restaurant owners, and others directly involved in the tourism sector, providing a significant boost to the local economy.
A tourist visiting from Dhaka with family expressed satisfaction, saying, “The natural beauty of Bholaganj is truly remarkable. The combination of mountains, river, and white stones is unique and rarely found elsewhere in Bangladesh. Spending the Eid holidays here has been a wonderful experience.”
The Acting President of Companiganj Photography Society said the organization had taken special preparations to welcome tourists during Eid. Besides capturing memorable photographs for visitors, members of the society are also providing guidance and necessary information to ensure a pleasant experience. He noted that both tourist turnout and income have increased compared to the previous Eid-ul-Fitr holidays.
Bholaganj White Stone, located in the border area of Companiganj Upazila, has long been recognized as one of Bangladesh’s most attractive tourist destinations. During Eid holidays, public vacations, and festive seasons, the site regularly attracts thousands of visitors from across the country.
How to Get There
Visitors from anywhere in Bangladesh can first travel to Sylhet city and reach Ambarkhana. From there, CNG-powered auto-rickshaws and local buses are available to the Bholaganj Tourist Boat Terminal, with fares generally ranging between Tk 80 and Tk 100 per person. From the terminal, tourists can hire a reserved boat carrying up to eight passengers to reach the main White Stone area at an approximate cost of Tk 800. Visitors are advised to wear life jackets and follow local safety guidelines during their trip.
